BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Provincial Vice-Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer had confirmed that the city’s Patient 18 was a former private driver of a board member who was fired last February but tested positive recently after he showed symptoms of COVID19.
Ferrer asked that the identity of the board member be withheld, however.
He said the confirmation today that the driver was tested positive caused a stir inside the Sangguniang Panlalawigan office after news broke out that Patient 18 was a Capitol employee.
Ferrer asked some of the board members and one of them said Patient 18 was indeed a former employee who was fired last February.
No added details were given why he was laid off.
Ferrer also said it was not clear if the board member had hired the driver and placed him under the Capitol payroll.
What is clear, however, is that “Patient 18 had never set foot inside Capitol.”
