Iloilo “non-essential” trips suspended

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Sea trips from any point to Iloilo are suspended as part of precautionary measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19.

Executive Order No. 50, issued by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, called for the suspension and prohibition of sea trips from midnight of 16 March to 14 April, 2020.

Treñas, in his E.O., cited as part of the ban “non-essential entry” of persons by sea within Iloilo City.

Not covered by the ban are: health care workers, authorized government officials, those traveling for medical or humanitarian reasons, persons providing basic services and utilities, and essential skeletal workforce;

persons coming from the Provinces of Iloilo, Capiz, Antique, Aklan and Guimaras who have been tested and cleared of the virus; returning residents who have been cleared of the virus, and others who also have been tested and cleared by local accredited health authorities.

The E.O. says non-essential entries should be regulated. These are those traveling from sea from Metro Manila to Batangas seaport through roll on/roll off ports; those who came from countries with positive cases of COVID, and those who are immunocompromised.

Compliance of provisions of the E.O. will be enforced by the police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Philippine Coast Guard.
