EDITOR’S NOTE: Police Officer 1 or Patrolman Eric Alcosaba was shot and killed around 3:50pm on 15 February 2020 at Burgos Avenue, Bacolod City.
The police said four unidentified killers shot at him several times. A netizen’s video showed a finishing blow, a bullet to the head, came from one of the killers who shot him at close range as he was sprawled on the road.
DNX takes a look at the last few minutes leading to the death of Alcosaba based on interviews with local police officers, and a video sent DNX by a concerned citizen.

Before 3:50pm, 15 February 2020
Police Officer 1 Eric Alcosaba went to McDonald’s East. He parked his vehicle at the Carlos Hilado Highway side of the fastfood store bound by Burgos Avenue to the south and Carlos Hilado National Highway (Circumferential Road) to the east.
Police spokesman Lt. Col. Ariel Pico said Alcosaba went inside the store to eat.
Witnesses who requested not to be named told DNX, however, that Alcosaba was not able to go inside the store.
It was not known where Alcosaba came from.
At around this time, a vehicle with the four killers inside parked by the side of Circumferential Road, behind Alcosaba’s vehicle.

Pico said some of the killers fired at the driver’s side where three bullet holes were found.

A man armed with a pistol and wearing a reversed baseball cap and a ski mask gets out of the white van that looks like a Toyota Innova, runs to Alcosaba and shoots him at close range with a pistol. The victim’s head jolts with the shot.

Another man who appeared to be wearing a ski mask and bringing an assault rifle goes to Alcosaba’s vehicle and opened the driver’s door. It is not clear if he got or took something inside.

Both men return to the van that speeds off going south along Carlos Hilado Highway.
