BACOLOD CITY – Blind singer-composer Carl Malone Montecido might have lost in a Philippine singing show but he won big now after English singer-songwriter Sam Smith Tweeted about Montecido’s cover of his hit Too Good at Goodbyes.

The video, shot by his cousin, Trixie, and uploaded on Facebook has garnered millions of views already.

The local balladeer has a lot of achievements tucked under his belt already aside from being a student and singer.

Last year, Carl composed a jingle for Lone District Cong. Greg G. Gasataya, who won his re-election bid.

The bright, bouncy jingle was based on the song Beautiful Sunday, Montecido, who penned the song fresh from his win in the television singing show, explained.

He also did the jingle for Mayor Evelio Leonardia in a previous poll campaign.

“As an aspiring local singer, it is a pleasure to have been recognized by prominent people in the music industry,” he said.
